Linnea has a Bachelor of Fine Arts from the Alberta College of Art & Design with a degree majoring in Jewellery & Metalsmithing. She has picked up the paint brushes after an Artistic hiatus, finding the freedom to do so after having her second child. Finding her love of painting has transformed her into a Contemporary Artist painting. She is a member of the International Encaustic Artists, Federation of Canadian Artists and The Leighton Centre, Visual Arts Alberta – CARFAC and resides in Langdon, Alberta. Linnea’s paintings are collected in Calgary, Vancouver, Holland and as far as Dubai.
Linnea’s newest work is in the form of abstract landscapes and snapshots of details of nature. Carefully building layers of depth with transitions of slight sodalities this new work will change each time you study it. Today you’ll find Linnea in her studio painting and teaching art to the children of the Rockyview district. Linnea’s work can be seen within Alberta and a constant showing at Juried Art shows.
Linnea works in several different mediums. She uses the attributes of Watercolour, Encaustic and surprisingly Acrylic to add complexity within the surface of her paintings to create an illusion of movement; stirring a memory or an emotion for the viewer. Growing up in Calgary and having a cottage in Invermere the 3 hour travel time winding through Alberta’s vast mountains and summers tumbling around in nature is what grew Linnea’s love for nature’s beauty and bases her artwork on this; a constant eye of seeing; Love for
